Symmetry – a topic familiar to all of us chemistry students, has proven to be especially inspiring. As a result, we are thrilled to present this current issue to you.

This exceptionally long issue covers a wide range of topics, from snow crystals and character tables to the symmetry of time. You’ll also find articles on music, a Christmas cookie recipe, chess, and an interview with Prof. Beltrao. For a bit of variety, we’ve included multiple puzzles and a mandala.

Schritt 1: Verrückte Idee haben. Schritt 2: 50 Browser-Tabs zum Thema öffnen. Schritt 3: Prokrastinieren. Schritt 4: Im Stress 3000 Wörter schreiben. So ungefähr schreibe ich seit Oktober 2021 meine Artikel. Ich liebe es, zu recherchieren und mehr über ein Thema zu lernen, ohne darüber eine Prüfung schreiben zu müssen. Und ich liebe es, die Mitglieder der VCS zu unterhalten und informieren und mit den wundervollen Leuten des Exsi-Teams zusammenzuarbeiten.

Eigentlich wurde ich als nichtsahnender Ersti als Autorin rekrutiert. Inzwischen habe ich mich jedoch im Layout unseres kleinen, aber feinen Blatts gefunden. Dabei habe ich mich zur Typografie-Enthusiastin entwickelt – mit dem angenehmen Nebeneffekt, dass auch meine Laborberichte immer ansprechend aussehen.
